Winterfest, Rugby Extravaganza!

Canisius Men's Rugby takes the day!

Ok, so the other weekend I was watching the Canisius College men's rugby team play some delightful rugby. It was a bracket style all day tournament right next to the peace bridge. The day started off brisk but full of promise. I woke up my friend at 8am and dragged her down to the pitch (what a rugby field is called) with me. So we get there and I helped to unload the pallets for fire. Of course being men, the fire went over like a free beer and pizza. As a result the fire was lit and a blaze in no time. As you can see from the picture below Mustard happens to love fire, but hates just about everything else.

Anyway, you probably want to know more about the rest of the day and not just the warm up activities. Well several interesting pictures were taken that helped to sum up the day better than my illiterate writing. The numbers correspond with images below and help to explain whats going on a little bit better:

1. the pitch turned to mud. 2. people received concussions. 3. accidents happen- sharp almost lost his manhood after catching a cleat in the wrong place. 4. there were piles of very angry men. 5. there were some very lovely high tackles. 6. the crabbies lost every game they played that day, and yet came away with two trophies (one from forfeits from other teams, the other thanks to Rock-Paper-Scissors).

Thursday Feb. 28

Whats happening everybody? I had plans last week to go and watch the new movie Semi-pro instead of going to Convergence Journalism... Turns out that class was canceled, fantastic! So my roommates and I grabbed our pre-screening passes, and left the house at 5:15. We made a quick mighty run and went to the elmwood regal. We got there sometime near 5:30pm and there was no one there. So I chatted up with the manager, she laughed and told us, "Yeah, you might be a little early..." So we decided to come back. We go to Buffalo Wild Wings next door I buy myself a Killian's Irish Lager (don't worry I'm 21) a Rolling Rock for my friend, and a shot of Jameson for both of us. Delicious.

So 45 min later we're still sitting at wild wings. We order another round, discover the bottom of the glass, and decide to head back to Regal after a round of intense bubble hockey. We figure ok, its 6:15 there should be a crowd now. Nope. So I dig in my pocket, find a couple of dollars, and head towards the in-theater arcade. I played a couple of shoot em up games, and finally we get let in. Let me just say this. Semi-pro was worth the wait. If you found anchor man funny, this may be right up your alley. Will Ferrel gave another hilarious performance as one would expect. Now granted my life isn't nearly that exciting, but this is how I spent last Thursday.
